Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

These General Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the rental of vehicles from Caranty rent a car. By signing or electronically accepting the rental agreement, the customer ("Renter") acknowledges that they have read, understood and fully accepted these terms.

2. Age and Driver's License

The renter and each additional driver must be at least 23 years old.
The maximum driver age is 80 years old.
Senior driver charge for ages 73-80: 10€.
The driver must hold a valid driving license for at least 1 year.
For driving licenses in non-Latin characters, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required.
A valid passport or ID is required upon pick-up.

3. Reservations and Vehicle Categories

Reservations are made by vehicle category. A specific model is not guaranteed.
In case of unavailability, a similar vehicle of the same category will be provided.
If there is no available vehicle in the same category, a free upgrade may be offered.

4. Duration, Extension and Late Return

The minimum rental duration is 1 hour.
Rental extension is possible after contacting the company.
A grace period of 30 minutes applies after the agreed return time.
In case of late return, the full daily rental rate is charged.
In case of early return, no refund is provided.

5. Insurance and Deposit

Basic Insurance (CDW/TP) is included in the rental price.
Standard Insurance & Full Insurance are also available.

6. Fuel Policy

Same to Same: The vehicle is delivered with a certain fuel level and must be returned at the same level.
In case of return with less fuel, the price of the missing fuel is calculated based on the current local retail price on the return date.
No refund is provided for additional fuel.

7. Mileage Policy

The rental includes unlimited kilometers.

8. Additional Drivers and Extras

Additional drivers are allowed. All additional drivers must meet the same requirements and be registered in the agreement.

Additional driver charge: €5/day.
Baby Seat: €3/day
Booster Seat: €3/day
Infant Seat: €3/day
GPS: €7/day

9. Insurance Exclusions

Insurance coverage DOES NOT apply in the following cases:
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Unauthorized driver
Off-road driving
Use of wrong fuel
Loss of keys
Lockout from the car
Interior damage
Roof or underbody damage
Unreported accident

10. Accidents, Damages and Traffic Fines

In case of an accident, the renter is obliged to immediately inform the company.
A police report is required in every case of an accident.
The renter is obliged to complete and keep the Accident Report Form (Friendly Statement) at the scene of the accident.
Taking photographs at the scene of the accident is recommended and/or required.
The renter is fully responsible for all traffic fines, parking tickets and toll charges during the rental period.

11. Vehicle Use Restrictions

The rental vehicle may only be used for lawful purposes on suitable public roads.
Only authorized drivers listed in the agreement are permitted to drive the vehicle.
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the vehicle.
Pets are not allowed inside the vehicle.

12. Delivery, Pick-up and Out of Hours

The available delivery and pick-up locations are displayed during the booking process. Additional charges may apply for delivery/pick-up in remote areas from our headquarters.

13. Ferry Transportation / Travel Restrictions

Transportation or use of the vehicle outside the area/island is not permitted.

14. Cancellation, No-Show and Early Return

The Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the rental period.
In case of no-show, no refund is provided.

15. Vehicle Return, Cleanliness and Inspection

The inspection of the vehicle upon return is carried out in the presence of an employee.
The vehicle must be returned in a reasonably clean condition.

16. Data Protection and Privacy

The company collects and processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR - EU 2016/679).
Personal data is used exclusively for the purposes of the rental.
Data is shared with third parties only when required by law or with service providers for the operation of the rental.

17. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece.
